Divers recount unexpected and unique encounter and scare with orcas in Puerto Madryn while enjoying marine life

A traditional fisherman from **Puerto Madryn** had a **scare with orcas** and lived an unforgettable and awe-inspiring **experience** while **scuba diving**: an orca swam just a few meters away from him at **great speed**.

The moment was captured on **video** by an anonymous witness and quickly **went viral**, becoming a sensation on social media.

What started as a **normal** day of artisanal octopus fishing in the **Golfo Nuevo** turned into a **shocking experience** for brothers Juan and Lucas Fiscina.

This fleeting and completely unexpected **encounter** with a group of **orcas** was recorded and shared, allowing their **story** to reach a **massive audience**.

**Juan Fiscina**, one of the protagonists of the incident, recounted his **experience** on Jornada Radio, where he confessed that it was **”the biggest scare of his life”**.

## A scare with orcas caused by speed, not danger

The encounter took place in the southern area of the **gulf**, about a kilometer from the **coast**. Juan, who has been **free diving** for over a decade, described the moment when a main adult **orca** appeared alongside a smaller one.

“It passed like a shot, very quickly,” he said, visibly surprised by the **speed** at which they approached. He added: “I thought an encounter with an **orca** would be a bit **calmer**, that they would come and take a little spin or something. No, it passed like a shot, very quickly.”

Although the video shows a clear **image**, Juan explained that the **visibility** underwater was not as good.

For a moment, he thought the **animal** would hit him head-on. “It appeared quite **close**,” he said, emphasizing that the “scare is due to the speed,” distinguishing this **experience** from other calmer encounters with **sea lions or whales**.

He feared that the orca might mistake him for **prey** and give him “a kick” or “a headbutt.” However, as can be seen in the video, the **cetacean** showed “impressive skill” in avoiding him without touching him.
