Individual caught in Santa Fe transporting 35 wild birds illegally in a van

In the town of María Luisa, **Santa Fe**, members of the Traffic Security Squadron “San Justo” intercepted a van **illegally carrying 35 wild birds** in 10 homemade cages.

The species included **28 ringed warblers**, one **small warbler**, and **six red-crested cardinals**. This constitutes a violation of National Law No. 22,421 on the Conservation of Wildlife and Provincial Law No. 4,830.

Action taken by the authorities in Santa Fe

The birds were taken to the Rescue, Protection, and Conservation Center “La Esmeralda” after being inspected by the Wildlife Control Department of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment.

The driver was subject to the case, while the authorities work on it.

The illegal transportation of these wild birds, essential for local ecosystems, highlights the importance of implementing **conservation laws**.

The actions of the authorities aim to ensure the **protection of biodiversity** and promote responsible practices.

Rescues and releases in Santa Fe during 2024

Throughout the year, 1402 wild animals were rescued, and 570 specimens were released, returning them to their natural habitat.

The interventions, covering the entire province, included **key species such as birds, mammals, and reptiles**, with the support of organizations, security forces, and community collaboration.

Among the most significant rescues is the case of the **crowned eagle**, an emblematic and endangered species. Although the rescued specimen did not thrive, valuable technical work was carried out in collaboration with the network of institutions that make up the **species management plan**, including the Ecoparque and the Center for the Study and Conservation of Birds of Prey in Argentina (Cecara).
