The Ituzaingó Municipality will carry out a series of zoonosis operations aimed at animal care and animal welfare, with the objective of providing free veterinary services to the neighborhoods. The first one will take place on Friday, August 8 at the Social Development Center “San Antonio”, where multiple services will be offered for the residents’ pets.
These events, organized by the Municipal Veterinary Clinic, will include clinical care, rabies vaccination, sterilizations, and the possibility to schedule appointments for follow-up consultations. The proposal aims to bring a large part of the services normally provided at the central headquarters to the field, facilitating access for those who cannot travel there.
In addition, specialized animal behavior professionals will participate, providing talks and advice on living with dogs and cats. The goal is to promote responsible pet ownership that considers the physical health and emotional well-being of pets.
The operations will be replicated throughout the month of August, with events scheduled in different areas of the district. In each location, appointments will be given in person until the day before the event, ensuring an order of care and equitable coverage for the entire community.
Ituzaingó will carry out a series of zoonosis operations to care for the municipality’s animals.
Benefits of public policies for animal care in municipalities
The implementation of free veterinary operations is a public policy that has a positive impact on animal health and the quality of life of the population. Mass vaccination and sterilization help prevent zoonotic diseases and control the overpopulation of animals, avoiding abandonment and the proliferation of dogs and cats living on the streets.
Moreover, bringing these services to the neighborhoods helps reduce the economic and geographical barriers that hinder access to veterinary care. This strengthens the bond between the community and the municipal management, demonstrating a concrete commitment to the well-being of all living beings in the area.
The inclusion of educational talks and specialized advice promotes responsible ownership, a practice that not only benefits the animals but also enhances neighborhood coexistence. Municipalities that implement comprehensive policies in this regard achieve safer, healthier, and more cohesive communities.

Pets are also members of the community
In Ituzaingó, the upcoming operations will take place at the Vitacal Development Society and at the Social Development Center “La Torcacita”. The strategy is to rotate the location of the events to cover as many neighborhoods as possible, prioritizing areas with limited access to veterinary services.
These programs also serve as community meeting spaces, where residents and professionals exchange experiences and knowledge. In this way, public policy transcends the health aspect and becomes a tool for social integration.
The future challenge is to sustain and expand these initiatives, incorporating new services and promoting a culture of respect for animals. As municipalities strengthen these types of actions, a significant step will be taken towards more inclusive, supportive, and aware cities of the importance of caring for all forms of life.
