The Municipality of Lomas de Zamora took a significant step in animal welfare by enabling the transportation of pets on bus lines that connect different neighborhoods with the Animal Hospital. The initiative aims to remove obstacles that for years hindered many families’ access to free veterinary services.
The new regulation arises in response to a need expressed by numerous residents who do not have private vehicles to transport their pets. Consequently, emergency situations, health checks, or vaccination campaigns often proved difficult to carry out.

Requirements to ensure safe travel
With the aim of ensuring proper coexistence within the transport units, the municipality established a series of conditions for the transportation of domestic animals.
On one hand, smaller animals must travel in carriers or bags specially designed for their transport. This seeks to provide comfort to both the pets and the rest of the passengers.
On the other hand, larger dogs must use a leash and muzzle, remaining under the supervision of an adult throughout the journey. Specific times have also been set to avoid inconveniences during peak user circulation periods.

The Animal Hospital of Lomas de Zamora has been consolidated in recent years as a reference center for the entire Southern Zone of Greater Buenos Aires. There, spaying, vaccination, clinical care, and surgical interventions of varying complexity are carried out.
