The establishment, called Jin Gu, was storing over a ton of food in deplorable conditions and offering it to customers under false dish names.

One of the cases was pigeon meat, which they were selling as “Peking duck”. Additionally, they indicated that, based on two specimens they found, they were killing the animals by kicking them.

The police officers even found up to 300 kilos of decomposing food, hanging meat, and rat traps with baits of spoiled meat.

A clandestine warehouse

During the inspection, the agents discovered a room used as a hidden warehouse, which was accessed through a sliding shelf in the bathroom for people with reduced mobility.
In this space, which was not included in the plans of the establishment, they found up to eight industrial freezers in poor condition. There were traces of rust and no thermometers to monitor the temperature.

They found food without any labels or traceability, including frozen black chickens, strips of meat drying on fans, and Chinese date-like bivalves. In this case, the commercialization is prohibited as it is a protected species.

What will happen next in the case

The intervention took place on March 25, after numerous complaints alerted about possible health irregularities in the establishment.

Likewise, the owner of the Chinese restaurant is being investigated for crimes against public health, fauna, and flora, as well as for violating consumer rights.

The case was transferred to the judicial authority and the Public Ministry, while the owner faces charges against public health.
