The city of La Plata is making a strong commitment to sustainable mobility in urban security matters. It has now added “Hornito”, a new electric car for patrolling. The municipal vehicle will be in charge of Plaza de la Madre, located in the heart of Los Hornos, on Av. 137 and 60.
A new electric car for patrolling: La Plata’s commitment to security
The small ecological patrol car is added to the fleet of electric vehicles that patrol various squares and public spaces in La Plata.
These cars are part of an initiative promoted by the Municipality of La Plata, with the aim of strengthening security efficiently and sustainably, without generating polluting emissions.

“Hornito” will be available 24 hours a day, performing preventive patrols in direct communication with the Municipal Operations Center (COM), thus providing greater peace of mind to residents, merchants, and those who transit this area of the commercial center of La Plata.
A city that bets on sustainability and proximity
With this addition, Los Hornos joins other localities that already have their own electric vehicle, guarding emblematic squares:
-
“Tito” in Plaza San Martín
-
“Tanito” in Plaza Italia
-
“Rochito” in Plaza Rocha
-
Two additional “Tito” at the República de los Niños, in Gonnet
Each of these vehicles, in addition to performing surveillance functions, creates proximity with citizens, who often even take photos with the electric patrol cars due to their friendly and modern appearance.

Interest in this type of transportation is growing hand in hand with incentive policies and greater environmental awareness. Consumers increasingly prioritize options that reduce the consumption of fossil fuels.
Furthermore, the improvement in charging infrastructure and the offer of more affordable models is expanding access to this technology in various sectors of the country.
