Renewable energy in Mendoza: Authorization granted for the development of Solar Park Coperote I in Santa Rosa.

The Federation of Electric Cooperatives of Nuevo Cuyo Ltda. was officially authorized as a Generating Agent within the Wholesale Electricity Market (MEM). The measure enables the Federation to develop and operate the Coperote I Photovoltaic Solar Park, a plant with an installed capacity of 3 megawatts (MW), which will be located in the department of Santa Rosa, Mendoza.

It will be connected to the Argentine Interconnection System (SADI) through a transformer station with a voltage of 33 kilovolts (kV).

The measure was established by Resolution 279/2025, published on Tuesday, July 1 in the Official Gazette of the Argentine Republic.

Technical and environmental endorsement to move forward

The authorization is based on the analysis of multiple administrative records, through which compliance with the requirements stipulated in Resolution 61/1992 was verified, particularly in points 5.1 and 5.2 of Annex 17, referring to the incorporation of new agents into the MEM.

One of the highlighted aspects of the resolution is the approval of the Environmental Impact Study, validated by the Undersecretariat of Environment of the Ministry of Energy and Environment of Mendoza, which guarantees the environmental compliance of the project.

“This analysis ensures that the project complies with environmental regulations, an essential requirement in the implementation of new energy infrastructures”, states the official text.

Operational implications and responsibilities assumed

The resolution also establishes that:

  • The Federation will assume any penalties or additional costs resulting from its incorporation into the MEM
  • The Wholesale Electricity Market Administrative Company (CAMMESA) will have the authority to apply corresponding charges during the current seasonal period

Cooperative energy expanding with this new solar park

With this new project, the Federation strengthens its participation in distributed and cooperative generation of renewable energy. This aligns with national goals of diversifying the energy matrix and reducing emissions.
