Solar cones outperform traditional panel: 20 times more power

Most read

The **energy revolution** does not stop. As the world moves towards a cleaner matrix, with 40.9% of global electricity generated in 2024 from **low-carbon emission sources**, new technologies are emerging promising to change the rules of the game. One of them is the **photovoltaic cone**, a device that, according to its developers, **can generate up to 20 times more electricity than a conventional solar panel**.

The Californian company **V3Solar** designed these rotating cones, known as **V3 Spin Cell**, which not only increase efficiency but also **reduce the cost of energy production up to three times** compared to **traditional flat solar systems**.

Each cone has a one-meter diameter and is composed of hundreds of photovoltaic cells arranged at an angle, encapsulated in a fixed lens that concentrates **solar light**. Thanks to a **magnetic levitation system powered by solar energy**, the cone rotates without generating noise or requiring frequent maintenance. This rotation helps to maintain low temperatures —less than 35°C even under intense radiation—, which improves the durability and efficiency of the system.

## Smaller space, higher performance

One of the great advantages of the V3 system is its **compact design**. Ten rotating cones **can be installed on a very small surface**, optimizing space usage without sacrificing power: they offer 10 kWp in just 10 square feet (less than 1 m² per cone).

Moreover, according to the company, these devices allow generating electricity at **8 cents per kilowatt-hour**, a value well below the current average for solar panels, making them a **promising and accessible alternative**.

## A potential replacement for solar panels

V3Solar’s innovation marks a turning point in the development of **solar energy**. Although traditional panels dominate the market, technologies like the **Spin Cell** could redefine the **future of solar capture**, both in domestic and industrial environments.

Beyond **solar panels and adhesives**, these cones aim to **transform the way we harness solar energy**, with greater efficiency, lower cost, and a design that better suits small spaces. Another step towards a **more efficient and sustainable energy transition**.

## **They created flexible solar panels to install on fences**

The Austrian company Sunbooster GmbH introduced to the market **an innovation in renewables**: they developed flexible solar panels. This way, they can be inserted into places like fences, something common in households.

In addition to generating electricity, **they allow for gaining privacy and sun protection at home**. According to the company, the power available for a 100-meter long fence is 18 kWh.

The so-called **”Sunbooster vertical”** are strips containing **bifacial monocrystalline cells**. They are available in six complete sets starting from 372 watts of power with inverters and the corresponding wiring.
