The theater is now included in the list of emblematic points that can be illuminated for special dates. 100 LED projectors have been installed, allowing the creation of thousands of different color combinations. The luminaires are equipped with remote control for the color of the lighting.
The Government of the City, acting through the Ministry of Public Space and Urban Hygiene, has installed 100 new LED projectors in front of the facade of the Colon Theater. These devices allow the front of the national historic monument to be illuminated with a variety of colors.
The new luminaires implemented have a remote control system that facilitates the remote control of the lighting color, as well as the programming of a specific color or a particular light show, according to the day or special date being commemorated.
“Now the Colon joins the list of emblematic Buenos Aires monuments that we illuminate on different national dates, celebrations, tributes, and events such as the Obelisk, the Planetarium, the Women’s Bridge, and the Usina del Arte, among others.
Thanks to this work, we continue to highlight our urban landscape and its architectural heritage,” stated Ignacio Baistrocchi, Minister of Public Space and Urban Hygiene.
To carry out the installation of the LED projectors —which allow thousands of different color combinations— it was necessary to first dig four holes that would serve as bases for the light columns. After this excavation, a concreting process was carried out. Once the concrete set, the installation of the four light columns could proceed.
With the columns already in place, the LED projectors were mounted on them, totaling 100 new luminaires. These, in combination with other luminaires previously installed on the same theater facade, achieve a wide range of colors.
This enables the generation of all kinds of combinations, such as different world flags, or the characteristic colors associated with special dates and tributes.
The installed LED projector technology has red, green, blue, and white color chips. By mixing the lights from the four chips in different proportions, it is possible to create an extensive variety of colors.
LED lighting is intended for applications that require colorful and high-quality lighting, and its main use is as nighttime decoration for buildings.
