The Province of Buenos Aires advances in its energy transition with the awarding of five new solar parks.
These will add 11.5 MW of power to the provincial electrical system within the framework of the Buenos Aires Solar Distributed Generation Plan.
With an investment of u$s 2.4 million, the works promise to bring clean energy to more than 1,300 homes.
Where the new solar parks will be located in Buenos Aires
The solar parks will be installed in the municipalities of Alberti, Azul, Coronel Rosales, Punta Indio, and San Cayetano.
These localities currently present critical conditions in their electrical distribution networks, especially at line ends.

The largest park will be built in Pehuen-Có (Coronel Rosales) with 1,000 kWp of capacity and a storage system of 2,097 kWh in lithium batteries.
It is followed by Alberti with 500 kWp, San Cayetano with 400 kWp plus 964 kWh of accumulation, and finally Azul and Punta Indio with 300 kWp each.
How the new solar parks in Buenos Aires will be
The parks of Pehuen-Có and San Cayetano will incorporate a lithium battery system that will allow storing energy during the day.
This technology guarantees the electric supply outside solar hours, meeting the nighttime demands of the localities.
The works include:
- provision of components;
- installation of photovoltaic panels;
- hybrid inverters;
- transformers;
- necessary structures;
- land repair;
- perimeter fence;
- cable laying, and;
- transformer stations.
The impact of the investment on the Buenos Aires electrical grid
These new developments will be added to the 26 solar parks already operational in Buenos Aires.
Together with the renewable generation system of Isla Martín García, they will form a provincial clean energy network.
The Solar Distributed Generation Plan seeks to introduce structural improvements in distribution networks.

This allows injecting energy near consumption centers, reducing losses due to transportation.
The works will be executed through the Provincial Program of Incentives for Renewable Distributed Generation (PROINGED).
The management is carried out by an operational unit integrated by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Services and the Regional Electric Forum of Buenos Aires (FREBA).
The financing comes from the electricity tariff funds specifically allocated to renewable energies.
This guarantees the economic sustainability of the program without requiring extraordinary contributions from the provincial budget.
The benefits of the new solar parks to local communities
The new solar parks in Buenos Aires will achieve an estimated generation of around 4,000 kWh per year.
This is enough to supply more than 1,300 homes with clean energy.
Thus, the works will provide solutions to structural problems of local electrical service restrictions.
The program also allows replacing diesel generation with renewable energy and increasing the electrical supply for productive enterprises.
Another point to highlight with the development of solar parks is that the execution times are shorter than traditional high-voltage works.
According to the official statement, “this new awarding reaffirms the commitment of the Provincial Government to the Buenos Aires energy transition”.
