Active wildfire being fought in Quebrada del Condorito National Park in Córdoba

The National Parks Administration has communicated that an active forest fire is being fought in the Quebrada del Condorito National Park, located in the province of Córdoba.

The origin of the fire was due to a vehicle incident that caught fire on the side of the road, in an area near the main entrance of the park.

Since the beginning of the incident, park rangers and firefighters have been working on site, coordinating their efforts with various fire stations in the region.

To combat the flames, a significant aerial operation has been deployed, including two water bomber planes provided by the Province of Córdoba.

These are joined by two additional water bomber planes that are on their way, sent by the National Fire Management Service, an agency under the Ministry of National Security. Additionally, a FIRE BOSS type plane, also belonging to the Province of Córdoba, has been incorporated into the extinguishing tasks.

Due to the possibility that it may be necessary to intensify the operation, firefighters from various protected areas of the country have been put on alert, ready to be called upon. The standby teams belong to the Traslasierra National Park, the Cerro Pistarini Educational Reserve, the Sierra de las Quijadas National Park, the Talampaya National Park, the Lihué Calel National Park, and the El Leoncito National Park.

Fire in the Quebrada del Condorito National Park

The mobilization of personnel from other parks, such as the Cerro Pistarini Reserve, is being evaluated according to the requirements of the moment.

The weather conditions in the area significantly complicate the situation. The intense wind and high temperatures hinder control efforts and contribute to the rapid spread of the active forest fire.

The affected vegetation mainly consists of grasslands and high-altitude grasslands, with a particular impact on the area known as Pampa de Achala.

As a safety measure, authorities have ordered the total closure of the Quebrada del Condorito National Park to the public. This restriction will remain until the fire is controlled and the area is declared safe. At this time, the preventive evacuation of all visitors who were in the park is underway.

The public is requested to strictly follow all instructions from the competent authorities and consult the updated recommendations on the official National Parks website.

The call is reiterated to take extreme precautions and not to use fire in rural areas, especially under the conditions of high temperatures and strong winds recorded today.
