Provincial authorities ordered the company that owns the well to take the following measures:

– **Prevent access to the affected area** to ensure the safety of people and animals.
– **Contain the loss of emitted fluids**, protecting the environment and avoiding further risks.
– **Permanently abandon the well**, in accordance with current regulations.

The Minister of Production and Sustainable Development, **Martín de los Ríos**, highlighted that the government of Salta carried out multiple inspections at the affected site.

According to the latest survey conducted on May 22, there was observed [emergence of gases and liquids from a crater on the northwest side of the well cellar](https://noticiasambientales.com/medio-ambiente/6-anos-de-derrames-de-petroleo-en-el-golfo-de-mexico-quedan-impunes/), with pressure causing the gas and liquid to affect the northwest slope of the location due to wind direction.

### Environmental analysis and monitoring
The following was also ordered:

– **Analysis of gases and physicochemical characterization of the fluid** from the well.
– **Submission of follow-up reports** by the company, with the results of the studies conducted.
– **Continuous monitoring** of the situation to assess the environmental impact and the effectiveness of the implemented measures.

Based on the observations made during the inspections, the impact on the **vegetation and fauna of the area** corresponds to previous periods. **No new findings** were recorded, except for those associated with the new emergence of fluids, specifically related to the location and the direction of their flow.

### Complaint by the producers
The complaint was initiated by cattle ranchers from **”El Estanque” Farm**, located in **Lomas de Olmedo 10, de la Estrella**.

This is 69 kilometers from Pichanal and 9 kilometers from an oil well exploited and then abandoned over a year ago by the company President Petroleum S.A., a subsidiary of President Energy.

They stated that over a year ago, the company left the site, neglecting the maintenance and exploitation of the oil well due to their economic-judicial situation. Additionally, they indicated that **they did not close it as the regulations establish**, with the consequences that remain affecting the inhabitants of the area.

Last week, they filed this latest complaint about the “blowout” or expansion of the **”Olmedo 10″ well**, which occurred on **Monday, May 19 at 5:00 p.m.**, as reported by the local media **Nuevo Diario Salta**.
