After the [appearance of dead fish](https://noticiasambientales.com/animales/investigan-la-aparicion-masiva-de-miles-de-peces-muertos-en-las-playas-de-rocha-uruguay/), authorities from the Environmental Sanitation area of the Health Secretariat of the Municipality of Pergamino toured on Tuesday, January 21, taking samples from various areas. They collected both fish and water to carry out the **corresponding analyses**.

According to the initial preliminary studies, the decrease in oxygen would be the cause of this **mortality in the stream**, although reports and examinations of the collected fish are awaited.
## Consequences of water scarcity and high temperatures
The **low water level** of many bodies of water in the province of Buenos Aires may lead to this issue being addressed in other areas in the coming hours. This situation has been repeated in other parts of the country, exacerbated by the **high temperatures**.
## Fish mortality due to high temperatures in Salta
Due to the high temperatures and the **scarcity of rainfall**, the El Tunal reservoir is on alert due to the low water level of the reservoir, putting the ichthyological fauna at risk.

The inhabitants of the area fear a repeat of the massive fish mortality that occurred in 2019 caused by the drastic drop in the water level.

The mayor of the town, Federico Sacca, took action and initiated legal actions to **preserve this vital natural resource** for the region. The local authorities’ demand aims to prevent the situation from worsening and ensure the **conservation of aquatic life** in the area.
