The van, according to reports, came from Santa Fe and its final destination was the city of San Luis. They stopped it for inspection and, during the procedure, several bags emitting a strong odor were detected.
Upon examination, the border guards confirmed that they contained river species such as dorado, surubÃ, patÃ, and sábalo, without any authorization or documentation to support their transportation.
Additionally, according to authorities, the merchandise did not comply with the required cold chain, violating the Animal Health Control Law (N° IX-0559-2007).
Faced with this irregularity, the Environmental Brigade of San Luis, together with the Provincial Health and Fiscal Control area, proceeded with the seizure and subsequent denaturalization of the products to ensure food safety.
More than two tons of illegal fish in Entre RÃos
The case was not the only one reported in terms of health in recent days. During a routine patrol on the river Uruguay, members of the Argentine Naval Prefecture (PNA) seized more than two tons of fish caught illegally.
It happened in a procedure carried out in the town of Villa Paranacito, province of Entre RÃos.
As reported, force personnel detected a vessel engaged in fishing activities outside the allowed hours and with unauthorized stockpiling. The confiscated cargo has an estimated value over $7 million.
The procedure involved the intervention of the provincial Inspection Directorate, in compliance with the Fishing Law of Entre RÃos and complementary resolutions that explicitly prohibit night fishing, a practice that undermines the sustainability of fishery resources in the region.
