What the new protected area is like

The new Protected Natural Area, called “**Multiple Use Reserve**”, will cover approximately **96,650 hectares**.

As explained by the governor in his message to the Legislature, the main objective is “to ensure the preservation of the existing biodiversity of flora and fauna, in **harmonious coexistence with the productive activities** of the human settlements located in the area.”

The governor also indicated that the creation of this reserve aims to respond to **environmental, productive, and economic demands** of the Formosa west.

This would also position the region as a **strategic area** for the conservation of ecosystems, soils, and bodies of water in **times of climate crisis**.

The text includes, among other actions, the promotion of programs for the certification of **[carbon emissions reduction](https://noticiasambientales.com/ciencia/el-cambio-climatico-va-a-empeorar-la-contaminacion-por-ozono/)**, the promotion of renewable energies, energy efficiency, and recycling.
