Instability and temperature drop in Buenos Aires: low of 9°C, rain and 94% humidity

The week begins with an unstable climate and a pronounced temperature drop in the City of Buenos Aires and the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA) this Monday, July 20, 2026. The arrival of humid air from the east-southeast will lead to a cloudy day with light rain.

Instability and low temperature in the metropolitan area

With relative air humidity levels reaching 94%, a sensation of humid cold is expected throughout the day. Caution is advised when driving due to slippery road conditions and reduced visibility due to fog in suburban areas.

The forecast for the City of Buenos Aires and the Buenos Aires suburbs for this Monday anticipates a minimum temperature of 9°C in the morning and a maximum reaching 14°C in the afternoon. The chances of intermittent rain will remain between 25% and 35% during the day, decreasing to 20% at night. Additionally, the southeast wind will blow at an average speed of 24 km/h, keeping the wind chill low.

In Greater Buenos Aires, especially in the rural areas of the south and west of the suburbs, minimum temperatures could drop to 8°C, with more presence of morning fog.

Nationally, the Early Warning System (SAT) continues to monitor instability in the center of the country. However, there are no significant active weather alerts for Buenos Aires at the start of the week. In the south, Patagonia remains under the influence of a polar air mass, causing isolated snowfalls in the mountains of Neuquén and Río Negro, while in the north of the country, a temporary worsening with mostly overcast skies is expected.

Extended forecast for the week

On Tuesday, July 21, the cooling is expected to intensify in the AMBA, with a maximum dropping to 11°C and a minimum of 9°C. The sky will be mostly cloudy and the winds will continue from the southeast.

For Wednesday, July 22, instability conditions will return at night with a possibility of isolated showers, maintaining cold temperatures between a minimum of 9°C and a maximum of 11°C.

At the end of the week, on Thursday, July 23, a slight improvement is anticipated with a partly cloudy sky, temporary east winds, and temperatures ranging between 9°C and 13°C.
