Mayra Mendoza and Ceci Soler presented the new municipal veterinary for animal health
This Wednesday, the mayor of Quilmes, Mayra Mendoza, led the inauguration ceremony of the brand new and first Municipal Veterinary.
The new establishment, located at the intersection of Dr. Arturo Umberto Illia and Agustín Bardi streets, in the town of Don Bosco, represents a historic event for the Quilmes Municipality by centralizing in the same building the services of rabies prevention, general veterinary care, and zoonosis.
“It is a huge joy that we feel for achieving something that was one of the many demands from neighbors that were needed in Quilmes, back when we started governing in December 2019.
The need to work for our animals, that the right to health in Quilmes is guaranteed for people and also for animals.
That’s why we planned, designed, and responsibly announced last year that we would be able to have the municipal veterinary, which we are inaugurating today,” stated Mayra, who was accompanied by Ceci Soler, the Secretary of Urban Development, Public Works, and candidate for 1st councilor for Fuerza Patria Quilmes.

The Mayor emphasized that “this is a political decision that we made as a government management through active listening. It has to do with the result of the work of organizations that without the State, it would be impossible to address the demands of everything that involves the care of animals in our municipality.
We always say it and we know that no one achieves or saves themselves alone, that they have to work together and we have to trust in the management projects that have given and are giving results, with infrastructure and organization.”
In her speech, Mendoza added a message for the upcoming elections: “Know that our daily purpose is to work to improve Quilmes.
So I want to ask you that on September 7, which is election day, if there is a way to thank this new municipal veterinary is through the work projects of our management in Quilmes and that is represented by Ceci Soler, our Secretary of Public Works and first candidate for Councilor.
We want to keep working, we know that there is still a lot to do and that’s why we ask you to trust us again, because that trust will be returned with more work, management, and organization.”

During the event, the Mayor also awarded diplomas to various institutions and organizations in recognition of their ongoing collaboration with the Zoonosis area to carry out castration and vaccination campaigns.
The honored organizations were: Adopciones Quilmes, Caballos de Quilmes, Pancitas Llenas, Comando Cuchita, La Esquina de Magnus, and five independent protectionists.
In turn, Soler explained the details of the project: “This municipal veterinary, the first in the city of Quilmes, was built 100% with municipal funds. It is a place that will also contribute to the decentralization of municipal care, so in this sector of Don Bosco we will have this space for pet care and treatment”.
In the same line, the Health Secretary, Natalia Nápoli, stated: “We are very happy, firstly because it is a historic milestone for the local population of Quilmes and the idea of bringing people not only human health, but also that of domestic animals that the population demands and needs, because private care is very expensive. It is a 100% municipal investment with improvements in furniture facilities, personnel, employee increase, and that improves the Municipality’s care for the community, thanks to the listening that the Mayor Mayra Mendoza has.”
From the perspective of civil society organizations, Luciana Depaola, protector of Ayuda y Protección Animales de Quilmes (APRAQ), expressed her gratitude: “We are super grateful. Being able to bring an animal here to avoid having to cover expenses outside in private veterinaries is a lot”.
The project, which covers an area of 600 m², includes two types of waiting rooms, four consulting rooms, three separate receptions, and an operating room with its respective pre and postoperative rooms, among other facilities.
