This week began the planting of native trees in the Misiones jungle. In total, 10,000 specimens will be planted in the Yryapú community of Puerto Iguazú.
The initiative is carried out jointly between the Mbya community and the Missionary Institute of Biodiversity (IMiBio). It will extend until April 26.
Reforestation in Misiones: 10,000 native trees for the jungle
The trees will be planted in common areas, trails, and the yards of the community members, who have committed to their care.
This plan, promoted by the government of the province of Misiones, aims to promote the restoration of the flora, fauna, and the Paraná Jungle.
Among the largest projects of this initiative are also the repopulation of the jaguar, the creation of an international corridor, and the planting (in total) of 100,000 native specimens, whose first step is reforestation in the Yryapú community.

The action will culminate in the Palo Rosa trail. IMiBio indicated that they worked together with the community through training and prior consultations, ensuring the active participation of its members.
Maintenance
In addition to planting, tree care is essential. Therefore, a group of young people called “Voluntarios 4 Estaciones” (4 Seasons Volunteers) will be in charge of maintenance, as local media reported.
During the launch event, which was attended by officials, authorities, and community leaders, Rodrigo Fariña, the coordinator of the project Bosque Atlántico de Aves Argentinas (Atlantic Forest of Argentinian Birds), spoke.
“Aves Argentinas works in the conservation of birds and their habitats. Without forests, there are no birds, without jungle, there are no birds, and without both, neither are we. These activities allow improvements not only for fauna but also for human communities,” he said.
On the other hand, the undersecretary of the Ministry of Ecology, Facundo Ringa, emphasized the relevance of the tripartite agreement between Aves Argentinas, the Ministry of Ecology, and IMiBio.
“This agreement focuses on an issue that affects us all. It is a key first step, we hope that more organizations will join, and above all, the community,” he stressed.

After signing the agreement with the Yryapú Community, the attendees collaborated with the organizations in the tree planting, formally initiating this valuable reforestation action.
