The province of Córdoba is getting ready to become the epicenter of the global climate dialogue, hosting from July 1st to 3rd the International Climate Conference “Latin American Commitment towards COP30” and the 5th World Circular Economy Summit.
The event, organized by the Government of Córdoba, will bring together international experts, academic leaders, public officials, and representatives from the private sector of Latin America and Europe, with the aim of designing a collaborative regional agenda for the upcoming COP30, to be held in Belém, Brazil, in November 2025.
A bridge between territories and global commitments
The Minister of Environment and Circular Economy, Victoria Flores, explained that the meeting seeks to articulate knowledge, experiences, and proposals from subnational governments regarding common challenges of sustainable development.
“There are global problems and a need for local solutions. The idea is to establish agreements that allow us to take care of our common home,” she emphasized.
Key topics and participatory format
During the three days, which will take place at the Córdoba Convention Center, topics such as:
- Climate change and biodiversity
- Gender and environmental justice
- Sustainable finance
- Circular economy
The schedule includes plenary sessions, thematic tables, agile consensus methodologies, and multi-stakeholder work, as well as a biofair and an electric mobility fair, running simultaneously as exhibition and exchange spaces.
Four strategic objectives of the conference
- Design of a common subnational agenda, focused on priority policies for territorial development.
- Visibility of success stories, through real experiences in environmental management and circular economy.
- Multi-sectoral articulation, to connect governments, academia, private sector, and citizens.
- Alignment with international commitments, integrating local actions with global goals.
A milestone on the road to COP30
The Conference is part of a broader process that aims to reach COP30 with a strengthened and convergent Latin American stance, capable of influencing discussions on climate financing, energy transition, forest protection, and environmental justice.
“Governor Martín Llaryora has shown a clear political commitment to work towards a balance between development and nature,” highlighted Flores.
Open call and transformative approach
The participation of national and provincial authorities, international organizations, green entrepreneurs, academics, and the general public is expected. “Change begins with each human behavior,” emphasized the minister, who called for massive and committed participation.
