Tree felling tasks in Lanín National Park: caution requested

The authorities of the Lanín National Park reported that they continue with the exotic tree felling tasks due to the risk they pose. These tasks are being carried out in the area of School No. 33 in Quila Quina, and specific precautionary measures have been requested.

According to the planned schedule, the work is being done from 6 to 10 hours.

The measures had been announced days ago, in mid-January. They are part of a comprehensive Management Plan, which aims to protect both the native biodiversity of the Park and the safety of people in the most frequented areas.

“Lanín National Park reports that the felling of exotic trees at risk in the area of School No. 33 in Quila Quina continues,” authorities reported.

“The work is carried out from 6 to 10 hours. Extreme caution is requested when moving around, following the instructions of the security personnel,” they requested through social media.

“We appreciate your understanding for the inconveniences caused during the development of these tasks and remind the community that we continue working to provide a better experience within the protected area,” authorities concluded.

About Lanín National Park

Lanín National Park was created in 1937. It preserves and protects a significant portion of Andean-Patagonian forest in Neuquén.

It covers 412,000 hectares of land and includes volcanoes, plains, mountains, and lakes. More than 165 species of vertebrate animals have their habitat in the park, including fish, amphibians, reptiles, mammals, and birds.

In addition to the special native flora and fauna, there are exotic species introduced by humans, such as rosehip, brooms, ponderosa pine, as well as red deer, wild boar, and the European hare.

Also introduced are sport fishing species such as trout and salmon.
