Researchers develop electric car battery that will provide a range of 300 km with just 5 minutes of charging

Several researchers are working to improve sustainable mobility, and from Taiwan, ProLogium has surprised with an innovative battery for electric cars that promises a range of 300 kilometers with just five minutes of charging.

Cutting-Edge Technology

ProLogium has introduced the first silicon-composite anode, developed in collaboration with the FEV Group. This new battery system outperforms traditional lithium-ion batteries in energy density and charge efficiency, addressing critical industry challenges.

The battery has a gravimetric energy density of 321 Wh/kg, with a forecast to increase to 355 Wh/kg by the end of the year.

ProLogium’s new battery charges very quickly, achieving 300 kilometers of range in just five minutes. In comparison, current lithium-ion batteries take about 30 minutes to reach that distance.

Tests show that this technology can go from 5% to 60% charge in five minutes and 80% in eight and a half minutes, reducing waiting times by 83.3%.

Additional Benefits

In addition to fast charging, the battery reduces the weight of electric cars by 300 kilograms, increasing energy efficiency and range. The reduced battery capacity also decreases carbon emission taxes and initial costs of electric cars.

The modular design of these batteries facilitates repairs, recycling, and reduces maintenance costs, increasing the resale value of used electric vehicles.

Future of Technology

ProLogium is moving from the R&D stage to the commercialization of its energy solutions and has partnered with the German company FEV to begin manufacturing batteries in the near future.

This technology promises to transform the electric car industry and increase competition in the supply of next-generation batteries for electric vehicles.
