Eco de los Andes, a leading beverage company, achieved an environmental milestone by becoming the first industry in Mendoza to achieve a production process with zero carbon emissions. Through a transformation plan that took over a decade, the company managed to operate exclusively with renewable energy, complying with the international standards established by the UN for the reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG).

During an event in Tunuyán, Pablo Abadía, CEO of Eco Aguas and Bebidas Saludables, highlighted the importance of this achievement: “Our mission is to offer consumers pure and quality water, through a sustainable industrial process that protects the environment and preserves natural resources. We are proud to contribute to a cleaner planet.”

On the other hand, the governor of Mendoza, Alfredo Cornejo, emphasized the role of the company as an example to follow in sustainable water management. In a context of increasing water scarcity, he stressed the importance of optimizing the use of the resource and reinforced his commitment to efficient legislation on the matter.

“We have less water and we must optimize its use. The Eco de los Andes model demonstrates that it is possible to produce sustainably without compromising access to this vital resource for the population, industry, and agriculture,” Cornejo stated.

100% Renewable Energy and Technological Modernization to Reduce Gas Emissions

To achieve this goal, Eco de los Andes implemented a series of structural changes in its Tunuyán plant, including:

  • The total electrification of its facilities and equipment.
  • An agreement with YPF Luz to supply only with wind energy.
  • The elimination of the use of natural gas and liquefied gas, replacing these processes with sustainable alternatives.
  • The installation of the first electric industrial boiler manufactured in Argentina, with a capacity to generate 2 tons of steam per hour.

Thanks to these advances, the company not only reduced its environmental impact, but also established a sustainable production model that contributes to the conservation of natural resources.

How do technologies help the environment?

The use of technology can help reduce pollution, restore ecosystems, protect endangered species, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by generating fewer carbon dioxide emissions through the use of energy from renewable sources such as solar or wind.

On the other hand, technological modernization can become a fundamental tool in biodiversity conservation, as it aids in the identification and monitoring of species, the development of assisted reproduction techniques, and the creation of protected areas based on scientific data.
