The operation was supported by various security forces, including DUAR, the Directorate of Nautical Safety, Argentine Naval Prefecture, Volunteer Firefighters, and National Parks. The coordination between these entities was key to ensuring the success of the event and promoting environmental awareness in the community.

During the event, the Minister of Environment and Circular Economy, Victoria Flores, and the mayor of Embalse, Mario Rivarola, signed a collaboration agreement between the municipality and the province. Education and Environmental Commitment

As part of the activities of the event, the provincial delegation visited the Municipal Nursery “Yolanda Ortiz”, a space dedicated to environmental education and the production of native flora. There, the Secretary of Education, Culture, and Environment of Embalse, Juan Bazán, presented ongoing projects and highlighted the role of the nursery as a learning tool for students and residents.

Mayor Rivarola emphasized the importance of such initiatives and called for collective commitment to environmental protection. The event “Clean Fund” is part of a set of measures promoted by the local administration to strengthen ecological awareness and the sustainability of natural resources in the region.

Through these actions, Embalse reaffirms its commitment to environmental care and the promotion of environmental policies that ensure the conservation of its valuable ecosystem.

The fundamental role of cleaning rivers and reservoirs

Cleaning rivers and reservoirs involves removing garbage, debris, and other solid waste, as well as weeding and cutting grass. It can also involve uncovering slabs and slopes, planting and replanting fallen trees. This simple activity helps improve water quality, protects the environment and human health, with the following benefits:

  • Environmental benefits: Protects ecosystems, helps restore nature, and promotes biodiversity.
  • Flood reduction: Cleaning swamps and inland waters helps regulate and protect against floods, storms, and hurricanes, and helps store water and recharge aquifers.
  • Soil stabilization: Cleaning swamps and inland waters helps prevent landslides.
  • Improves water quality: Helps improve water quality used for human consumption.
  • Improves health conditions: Improves environmental and health conditions of communities near them.

To help clean rivers and reservoirs, one can: dispose of waste properly, educate oneself about the impacts of pollution, participate in cleaning efforts.
