Parks with solar panels: Santa Fe aims to enhance its green spaces and protect the environment through solar energy.

More and more municipalities are betting on the recovery of public spaces, just like the Municipality of Santa Fe, which decided to move forward with the installation of photovoltaic solar panels in Juan de Garay Park. This measure will not only help in electricity generation, but also improve the lighting of the area.

This park has three islands, where between six and eight solar panels will be installed mounted on a concrete base and structures designed to ensure the safety and resistance of these devices against vandalism. In fact, during the first stage of the project, which is being progressively developed, the equipment was already installed on islands 1 and 2.

The first island is located near the Municipal Center for Road Education, as is island number 2, between the streets Santiago de Chile and Salvador Caputto, to the south, respectively. While on island 3, the work is focused in the vicinity of the upcoming Police Station, which will be located to the north of Salvador Caputto.

So far, eight panels have been installed on the first island, six on the second, while on the third, eight solar panels will be installed to complete the project.

Green spaces recovery works

The comprehensive plan for the enhancement of Garay Park, in addition to the installation of solar panels for electricity generation, better lighting, and lower energy consumption, also includes the installation of reflectors. These will illuminate the perimeter where they are placed and the tree species.

In addition to the installation of reflectors, the plan also includes cleaning tasks and continuous maintenance of lakes and green spaces, as well as the placement of corporeal letters, refilling, and weeding of the flowerbeds.

An initiative full of benefits

The installation of solar panels in squares and urban parks represents a key tool to promote the use of clean energies in community spaces. These systems allow generating electricity in an autonomous and renewable way, reducing dependence on the conventional grid and decreasing greenhouse gas emissions associated with electrical consumption.

Among the most visible benefits is sustainable public lighting. Solar luminaires improve safety during nighttime hours and at the same time reduce maintenance costs and electricity bills for municipalities. Additionally, they can power charging points for electric bicycles, mobile devices, or drinking water stations, expanding the services available to visitors.

Another fundamental contribution is the educational and environmental value they generate. By integrating solar panels in green spaces, citizen awareness of energy transition and planet care is promoted. These projects turn squares into showcases of innovation, where the community can practically see how renewable technologies work and their positive impact on the environment.
