The Government of Santa Fe presented the **Soil Conservation Program of the Province**, an initiative that seeks to promote the responsible and sustainable use of soils in Santa Fe. This plan focuses on promoting the [ecosystemic and economic benefits of conservation](https://noticiasambientales.com/medio-ambiente/las-tierras-del-planeta-se-secan-la-alerta-de-naciones-unidas/), as well as developing **an innovative digital platform**, implementing demonstration areas, and monitoring properties that adopt good agricultural practices.
This launch took place at the **Sociedad Rural de Santa Fe** during the **Third Santa Fe Soil Conference**. During the event, the Minister of Production Development, Gustavo Puccini, emphasized the importance of this policy by stating that **”soil and water are irreplaceable resources that we must take care of.”**
Puccini also highlighted that around **80% of the province’s lands** suffer from [erosion and nutrient loss issues](https://noticiasambientales.com/innovacion/descubren-que-para-luchar-contra-la-erosion-costera-pueden-usar-electricidad/), although official data is only available for 2%. For this reason, an advanced digital tool, unique in the country, is being developed to allow producers, scientists, and authorities to **work together on soil conservation**, supported by a 30-year-old law.
In this regard, the Secretary of Agriculture and Livestock, Ignacio Mántaras, stressed that this program represents a relaunch of provincial conservation policies, aligned with the Constitution and Santa Fe regulations. **”The current diagnosis is not favorable**, but with this initiative, we aim to manage soils thinking of future generations,” he stated.

## **A technological tool for sustainable soil use**
Regarding the sustainable use of soils, Mántaras explained that a technological tool is being tendered to diagnose and manage soils efficiently. He also highlighted the joint work with the **Santafesino Soil Observatory**, created in 2017 and revitalized for this new stage. This scientific-technological organization will work hand in hand with the recently convened Santafesino Soil Council, which will include representatives from the production sector and other key sectors.
This is evidence that **Santa Fe reaffirms its position as a pioneer in the sustainable management of natural resources**. According to Puccini, this program shows that it is possible to coordinate efforts between the public and private sectors to produce in an ecosystem-friendly manner.
The event was attended by various authorities and experts, such as the Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forest Development, Damián Scarabotti, and the coordinators of the Santafesino Soil Observatory, Mario Monti and Jorge Carbone. This program **promises to be a milestone in the preservation and recovery of Santa Fe soils**, promoting sustainable practices for the benefit of future generations.
