T-shirts that come from the ground: eco-friendly fashion with roots that promise to revolutionize the industry in Brazil

In the heart of Brazil’s agricultural land, among hectares of cotton and clean air, a textile venture with a sustainable vision is sprouting. Almagrino, a brand born in Mato Grosso, transforms its own raw material into traceable garments that journey from the field to the stores without losing identity or environmental commitment, as part of the ecological fashion.

The project started with a symbolic planting at the Santa Rosa farm, dubbed as the “t-shirt plantation.” There, cotton grown responsibly is the origin of t-shirts and polos that not only clothe but also tell a story of transparency and respect for the land.

Each garment carries a documented journey, from the seed to the point of sale, thanks to technology that allows consumers to know the complete process. Thus, the brand proposes a new form of conscious, local, and sustainable consumption.

Their goal goes beyond fashion: Almagrino aspires to become the country’s first carbon-neutral clothing brand, marking a milestone in the Brazilian textile industry.

## Regenerative Fashion and Green Growth
Production began on a 160-hectare plot with selected cotton varieties for their quality and resistance. In the short term, the goal is to double the cultivated area and expand the industrial capacity to reach 10 thousand monthly units of t-shirts.

This growth goes hand in hand with the opening of direct-to-consumer sales channels. Although 80% of current sales belong to the corporate sector, the development of physical stores, online sales, and diversified products aims to balance the scale with the general public.

The store located in Cuiabá is already a reference point in the region, and expansion towards urban centers in southeastern Brazil is projected. Additionally, the brand looks abroad: Europe is one of the next destinations to export this field-spirited fashion.

Almagrino not only harvests cotton but also a new way of producing, dressing, and respecting the planet. In each seam, innovation, social responsibility, and a commitment to the sustainable future of Latin American fashion intertwine.

## A Phenomenon that Spread Worldwide
Ecological fashion, also known as sustainable fashion, seeks to reduce the environmental and social impact of the textile industry, one of the most polluting on the planet. This trend prioritizes organic, recycled, or low-impact materials, as well as ethical production practices and fair trade. It also promotes garment durability and responsible consumption over the “fast fashion” model.

On a global level, ecological fashion gained visibility thanks to the increasing environmental awareness of consumers and pressure on major brands to transparently disclose their production chains. European countries like Sweden, Germany, and France lead initiatives for regulation and certification, while sustainable-focused ventures are emerging in Latin America.

However, the challenge remains in scaling these proposals in a market dominated by large textile industries. Despite its growth, ecological fashion represents only a small fraction of global production and faces barriers such as the high cost of sustainable materials, lack of local infrastructure, and cultural resistance to changing consumption habits.
