Natural Reserves in the Buenos Aires Province
Buenos Aires’ **natural reserves** have a great diversity of native landscapes. In them, the priorities are the **conservation of native flora and fauna**, the maintenance of main physiographic characteristics, and the preservation of ecological balance. If you feel like visiting one, we recommend the following:
**Del Pilar Natural Reserve:** Located a few kilometers from the urban center of Pilar, the reserve borders the northern bank of the Luján River. A wetlands and talares area, the place covers an area of almost 300 hectares.
**Pehuén-Có – Monte Hermoso Geological, Paleontological, and Archaeological Reserve:** This site stands out for its valuable paleontological heritage, as it has a unique fossil deposit in the world declared a geological reserve. In this exceptional place, fossils of extinct mega mammals can be observed.
**Mar Chiquita Provincial Natural Reserve:** It is one of the environments with the greatest diversity of fauna in the province and has a unique coastal lagoon in the country. This characteristic gives it great natural value, to the point that it was declared a Biosphere World Reserve by UNESCO in 1996.
