This carbon footprint measurement, together with the recent complete transition of its energy supply to renewable sources, positions the Park as a leader in environmental matters within its sector, both nationally and regionally.
In line with its commitment to sustainable development and as a continuation of its policy to reduce the impact on the environment, the Austral Business Park (PEA) has completed for the first time the carbon footprint measurement.
This fact represents a fundamental advance to understand the current environmental situation of the park and sets an important precedent in the field of business parks in Argentina.
Regarding the measurement process, it was carried out following the international standard ISO 14064. This method allowed recording both the direct emissions and the indirect emissions that occur due to the park’s daily operations, covering from electricity consumption to the displacement of people, external services contracted, and waste generation.
“The carbon footprint measurement is the starting point for a profound transformation in the PEA. It gives us the opportunity to understand our current position and outline a specific action plan to reduce the environmental impact, advancing our goal of reducing the environmental externalities generated by the daily activity of the Park,” stated Mag. Belén Aliciardi, ESG Manager of the Austral Business Park.

Among the most important findings of the carbon footprint study, the following can be mentioned:
- Transportation and daily mobility of employees, suppliers, and visitors are the main cause of emissions. This has led to the creation of carpooling and collective transportation projects within the park, which will be implemented soon. Additionally, the reforestation plan of the Park will continue using native species, with the goal of planting more than 120 trees by the end of 2025.
- Electricity usage is another relevant element. However, a significant decrease in its impact is anticipated thanks to the recently signed agreement with Energeia, through which the PEA is already supplied with 100% renewable energy.
- Additionally, areas for improvement related to outsourced services and daily practices in waste management were identified. These aspects will be addressed in collaboration with the companies operating in the park.
This carbon footprint measurement progress is part of the vision of the Austral Business Park, aiming to be a place where science, business, and sustainability converge, thus promoting growth models that generate a positive impact. Using this diagnosis as a starting point, the PEA plans to strengthen a gradual emission reduction plan and continue fostering a shared environmental culture with the companies established in the park and its strategic partners.
The initiative is part of the “Businesswomen in Climate Action” program, led by Dr. Carmen Virasoro, a renowned international specialist in climate change management.
The purpose of the program is to promote the involvement of women entrepreneurs in addressing this global issue.
In Argentina, this carbon footprint measurement initiative receives funding from CAF and is led by the Foundation for Political, Economic, and Social Studies for the New Argentina (FAPESNA) and the Business Convergence of Women in Argentina (CEMS).
