There is a place in Argentina that nature and ecotourism lovers must know: **Bañado la Estrella**. It is an almost unexplored **[wetland of Formosa](https://noticiasambientales.com/medio-ambiente/el-deterioro-de-los-humedales-en-el-mundo-la-problematica-en-mas-de-170-paises/)**, worthy of a movie.

It is one of the largest in South America and a true natural paradise. It hosts lagoons, wetlands, palm groves, and “champales” in around 400 thousand hectares, flooded forests covered with vines.

## How is Bañado la Estrella, the wetland and natural paradise of Formosa
Not only are there accommodations and access to local gastronomy in the surroundings, but it is also an ideal destination for photography. The postcards it offers are stunning thanks to the vegetation and natural colors that are unique on the planet.

Moreover, the place is home to various animals such as capybaras, alligators, the mysterious water snakes (like the boa curiyú), and birds.

Recently, the site was distinguished as one of the “**Natural Wonders of Argentina**”, turning its dreamlike geography into an **[unbeatable opportunity for ecotourism](https://noticiasambientales.com/turismo/los-colorados-la-maravilla-natural-de-la-rioja-que-te-transporta-a-marte/)**.

Those who manage **Bañado La Estrella** emphasize the importance of protecting the local fauna, which has been declared an “**AICA**”: Important Area for the Conservation of Birds.

## When to visit Bañado la Estrella
Bañado la Estrella can be visited all year round. From April to September is ideal, as recommended, to see a great variety of fauna. The hottest months are from December to March.
