In the framework of the World Environmental Education Week, the **city of Salta** is getting ready for a day dedicated to **raising awareness and caring for the environment** and the collection of **electrical and electronic waste**.
Next Friday, January 24, from 9 am to 5 pm at Parque San Martín will be the epicenter of a **thematic fair** and the city’s first “Raeetón.”
## Thematic Fair and “Raeetón”
According to Ramiro Ragno, Director of Municipal Environmental Education, in an interview with Aries, the fair will have the participation of companies, institutions, and entrepreneurs working in areas such as **recycling**, reuse, and other **environmental actions**.
The main objective is to liven up this important green space in the city and make environmental initiatives known to the community. Additionally, they aim to anticipate the future opening of “La Casita de los Niños,” a space within the park with an environmental focus.
## RAEE Collection Event
Simultaneously with the fair, the first “Raeetón” of Salta will take place, an event to collect **electrical and electronic waste** (RAEE). Various unused devices will be received, such as cell phones, computers, keyboards, mice, radios, televisions, washing machines, and refrigerators.
Ragno explained the origin of the event’s name: “It’s ‘Raeetón’ because globally this type of waste is called RAEE, for the acronym of Electrical and Electronic Equipment Waste.” Thanks to an agreement with METALOR and the Secretariat of Modernization of Salta, the correct final disposal of these wastes will be ensured. Additionally, they will consider the possibility of **refurbishing some computers** to donate to technical school workshops.
## Comprehensive Proposal
In this way, the city of Salta joins the celebration of the World Environmental Education Week with a comprehensive proposal aimed at raising awareness among the population about the importance of **caring for the planet and promoting sustainable practices**. The fair and the “Raeetón” represent an opportunity to learn, participate, and contribute to a more sustainable future.
