The San Francisco Industrial Park, in San Justo, Córdoba province, launched a project to work with primary schools and plant native trees.
Called “Planting my Footprint,” the project aims to raise awareness among children about environmental care through the germination of local flora.
Planting native trees and learning: what the project is about
The initiative is carried out in collaboration with educational institutions, the municipality, the Penitentiary Service, and local companies. Another aspect of the program also promotes the circular economy through plastic recycling.
The program is aimed at the second cycle of primary level in public and private schools.

According to the Industrial Park, the proposal includes initial training for school directors and students, as well as technical support throughout the process. It will go from germination to the final planting of the trees.
In the case of the local Penitentiary Service, they will join because they produce various species in their internal nursery and recently signed an agreement with the Park for the donation of specimens.
Through the company ZF Sachs, 400 trees have already been planted that originated from there.
The municipality, led by Mayor Damián Bernarte, collaborates through the Municipal Nursery. This coordination is carried out through the Secretariat of Educational, Technological, and Productive Linkage, led by Lic. Germán Fassetta.
The Industrial Park drives the project
This task will be led by the manager Leonardo Beccaria, the environment specialist Lorena Giecco, environmental advisor of the park, and their team.
The project to plant native trees.
“Generating environmental awareness in children, making them recognize the importance of protecting the environment and the value of native trees,” they stated about the objectives.
In a first stage, the germination of 1000 specimens is projected, with the intention of expanding production as more institutions join.
“Our project focuses on environmental awareness and on having our own production of tree growth,” they explained from the Park to local media.
The project also aims to strengthen the bond between the industrial sector, education, and the public.
“This joint work not only benefits the industry and job creation, but also allows us to address environmental care in collaboration with primary schools, which will help reforest the industrial premises and possibly the city,” said Beccaria.
Second stage
In the planned second stage, the park will provide pots, pallets, seeds, and fertilized soil for planting.
Students will be in charge of caring for and watering the plants with the support of Lic. Lorena Giecco. Finally, between October and November, the germinated seedlings will be transferred to a green space within the Industrial Park, where afforestation will take place.
Additionally, they reported that each sector will bear the name of the participating school.
