The **Bahía Blanca Horticulturists Cooperative** continues with the construction of the **New Cooperative Concentrated Market** and the **Agri-Food Park**, two innovative projects that formally began in **May 2023** with the laying of the **foundation stone**.

In a special year, marked by its **75th anniversary** and the challenges derived from the [recent storm](https://noticiasambientales.com/medio-ambiente/tragedia-en-bahia-blanca-el-ministerio-de-ambiente-de-la-provincia-continua-trabajando-en-la-zona-afectada/), the entity reinforces its commitment to **reconstruction and regional development**.

## An innovative expansion project for producers and consumers

Located on a **28-hectare site** on **Route 51** and the access to **Bahía Blanca**, the cooperative market is inspired by the **Buenos Aires Central Market**, offering a **concentration center** where regional producers can **market their products** directly.

Its goal is to **supply one million consumers**, reducing **intermediation and costs**, thus generating **better prices** for both producers and buyers.

Due to a **medium-voltage power line** crossing the land, it will be subdivided into **two plots**:
1. **Agri-Food Cooperative Concentration Market**, in the area next to Route 51.
2. **Agri-Food Park**, aimed at adding **value** to primary production, optimizing **production peaks** and expanding the offer with **new products**.

## Logistics and regional benefit

The site has **dual access** from **Provincial Route 51** and the **street of the Jewish cemetery**, which will help **decongest truck traffic** in the city center.

Currently, the Cooperative manages the **largest percentage of fruit and vegetable movement**, with shipments from **Bahía Blanca to Puerto Madryn**, receiving products from areas such as Cerri, Villarino, Viedma, and Valle Medio.

## Infrastructure and current capacity

The cooperative market currently operates with:
– **64 commercial stalls** occupied by **48 operators**.
– **5,700 m² of covered warehouses**.

However, due to **space limitations**, expansion **has been restricted**, so the construction of the **new concentration center** and the **agri-food park** represents a key advancement for the region.

This ambitious project not only [boosts the local economy](https://noticiasambientales.com/residuos/economia-circular-reinsertaron-mas-de-20-toneladas-de-material-reciclable/), but also **strengthens the connection between producers and consumers**, creating an ecosystem of **fair trade and sustainable development**.
