“The Gluten-Free Route” invites you to eat well, without fear or restrictions.

Eating out can be a frustrating experience for those who cannot consume gluten. The lack of safe options and widespread ignorance in many establishments turn the pleasure of dining out into a constant concern.

To change this scenario, the Antigourmet team and the Cunnington brand have launched The Gluten-Free Route, an audiovisual guide aimed at bringing back the joy of dining out for people with celiac disease. The series explores venues where you can eat deliciously, safely, and without sacrificing taste or portion size.

The project combines the critical and popular perspective of the Antigourmet team with the experience of Mariana Merlo, a journalist and celiac disease patient, who provides advice and participates with informative and useful content. Its objective is clear: to identify places that take gluten-free dining seriously without losing the essence of a traditional eatery.

In addition to the support of Cunnington —whose Classic and Suave beverage line is certified gluten-free—, this initiative aims to be a concrete, useful, and entertaining tool for the celiac community.

A Possible Path for Those Who Cannot Eat Gluten

Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease in which the consumption of gluten —a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye— damages the small intestine. People with celiac disease must follow a strict gluten-free diet for their entire lives.

This entails avoiding not only obvious foods like bread and pasta, but also those that may be contaminated or not clearly labeled. Therefore, careful preparation, staff attention, and ingredient traceability are crucial.

A safe diet for celiacs requires separate kitchens or certified processes, exclusive utensils, and trained staff. It’s not just about offering a “gluten-free” dish, but ensuring there is no cross-contamination.

The Gluten-Free Route aims precisely for that: to offer reliable places with options that do not marginalize or diminish the gastronomic experience. Dining out should not be an act of faith but of trust.

Where and When to Follow the Route

The first confirmed destinations include Da Leo Gluten Free Pizzeria, 100% gluten-free in Bernal; Churros El Topo, in Belgrano; and Mambo, in La Plata. All selected for their quality, generosity, and commitment to celiac diners.

With a relaxed, practical, no-nonsense approach, the videos are posted on Antigourmet’s Instagram, in collaboration with Cunnington. The series will have weekly posts, giveaways, and new stops in each episode.

The Gluten-Free Route is not just a guide to traditional eateries: it is a way to reclaim the pleasure of eating out, without fear or excluding labels. Because everyone should be able to sit at the table, order what they want, and enjoy it as it should be.
