Salta: Truck seized for dumping waste in the Arenales River and controls against illegal dumpsites reinforced

A joint operation between the Environmental Patrol and the Division of Environmental Rural Police allowed to intercept a truck dumping waste on the banks of the Arenales River, near the Santa Lucía neighborhood, in Salta capital.

The operation caught the offender in the act of dumping in an area historically affected, setting an exemplary precedent in terms of environmental enforcement.

The action, carried out in the area known as La Ribera, is part of the municipal plan for the eradication of chronic micro-landfills, implemented to mitigate the environmental and sanitary degradation affecting various areas of the city.

Seizure of the truck for waste dumping and review of the Environmental Certificate

After the relevant judicial consultations, the immediate seizure of the vehicle was ordered, with the company under investigation. The enforcement now seeks to verify if the firm has the Environmental Suitability Certificate, a mandatory document to operate within municipal territory.

The Municipality emphasized that the impunity with which some economic actors operate jeopardizes public health. Through these types of sanctions, they aim to send a deterrent message.

Citizen participation and strengthening of the control system

The municipality reminded that citizens can actively collaborate by reporting infractions through phone number 147 or the APP Muni Salta. These are channels designed to facilitate participatory environmental surveillance and protect public space.

“Those who pollute will face the consequences” was the institutional message after the operation, reinforcing the local commitment to a stronger and more transparent urban environmental management.
