Traveling along the scenic route 41 while winter displays its magic, coloring the landscapes of northwest Santa Cruz with white, a unique adventure tourism proposal invites you to explore the majesty.
Every Sunday, aboard sturdy 4×4 trucks, with the tempting aroma of a homemade stew, the excitement of sleighs, and the charm of exploration logs, hosts Gina Legnazzi and Damián Borg promise an unforgettable day for the family, blending pristine nature, rich history, and pure adventure in the Patagonian mountains.
For approximately a month and a half, local guide Gina Legnazzi has designed a unique and different plan, ideal for both visitors to the charming town of Los Antiguos and residents of the area.
This is an authentic “snow search”
And the name is not just a figure of speech; it is because, as Gina explains, “sometimes we find snow in the forest, sometimes higher up.
This year it hasn’t snowed much, but we still go up because the experience is much more than just the snow”.
The adventure, then, lies in “enjoying the entire scenic route, the landscapes, and the opportunity to share, which makes the outing truly special,” she enthusiastically relates.
The excursion starts early, around nine in the morning, and extends until five in the afternoon, optimizing the day for enjoyment.

The starting point is the vibrant urban center of Los Antiguos, from where the 4×4 trucks head towards the mythical Scenic Route 41.
This section, entirely gravel, winds up the mountain and borders the winding Jeinimeni River, a natural boundary that marks the border between Argentina and Chile, offering spectacular views from the start.
As you gain altitude, the landscape transforms dramatically, revealing layers of the region’s geological history.
Impressive rock formations dating back to the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods begin to appear, witnesses of millions of years of evolution.
The majestic Andes Mountains stand as a backdrop, and if the weather conditions allow and the sky is clear, you can even glimpse the glaciers in the distance, creating a truly awe-inspiring panorama.
A journey through the scenic route combining learning, fun, and gastronomic delights
Gina and her partner, Damián, have designed this experience especially with a family audience in mind, paying special attention to the little ones.
“I organize the outings also thinking about the little ones. I give them a logbook, a detailed map of the route, and fun stickers of native animals from Patagonia,” explains Gina.
Additionally, during the journey, interactive questions are asked “so they can learn in a playful way,” turning every kilometer into an educational and entertaining opportunity.
Meanwhile, Damián takes care of the culinary part, ensuring that the adventure is also a delight for the palate.
At noon, an exquisite and steaming lentil stew awaits the explorers, perfectly paired with freshly baked homemade bread.
To whet the appetite, a delicious snack with pickled eggplants welcomes you.
The proposal is totally comprehensive: changing rooms are provided so that participants can comfortably change, and high-quality snowsuits and gloves are provided for those who are not fully equipped for the Patagonian cold.
The day ends with a typical Patagonian snack, including tempting alfajores from Los Antiguos, comforting hot chocolate, and even guanaco-shaped cookies, adding a playful and native touch.
Fun in the snow is guaranteed, regardless of age. The proposal includes the use of sleds, popular “butt sleds,” and sliding boards, inviting everyone to enjoy the white blanket actively.
“The idea is for them to experience the snow safely, comfortably, with everything included, but without losing the homemade and personal touch that we give it.
We do everything with love and with local products,” explains Gina, highlighting the care and authenticity of every detail of the experience.
Commitment and flexibility: the promise of a strengthened experience
One of the most outstanding features of this winter excursion is its unwavering consistency. “I go out every Sunday, even if not many people sign up.
If someone makes a reservation, the outing is guaranteed. And if not, I still go. Because it is also important to maintain the pace, continue to explore the territory, create an experience that is strengthened over time,” affirms Gina, demonstrating admirable commitment to her proposal and the promotion of local tourism.
Thinking about travelers’ comfort and accessibility, the scenic route excursion offers mobile connectivity on board the trucks, allowing participants to stay connected if they wish.
