Call for the largest class action lawsuit in history under the Glacier Law

After the reform of the Glacier Law was sanctioned through a process described as flawed and lacking social consensus —which ignored the demands of thousands of citizens calling for water protection—, various entities have decided to take legal action.

The Fundación Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (FARN), the Asociación Argentina de Abogados/as Ambientalistas (AAdeAA), and Greenpeace invite the community to join a collective lawsuit to stop this environmental setback.

Despite hundreds of thousands of people registering for the public hearing to safeguard the current regulations, their voices were not considered.

Call to the collective lawsuit

In light of this, the organizations pointed out that the solution now lies in citizen participation, warning that if the Congress refused to listen, it will be the Justice system that must intervene to protect the country’s water reserves.

The environmental groups argue that this legislative resolution, far from ending the dispute, inaugurates a phase of civil resistance in defense of water. The goal is to reaffirm the social rejection of the reform and protect the natural heritage.

It is emphatically warned that this legal modification seriously endangers water access, directly affecting the lives of millions of people and the integrity of the ecosystems that depend on the glaciers and the periglacial environment.

To join, citizens can access the website www.demandacolectivaglaciares.org and be part of the largest collective legal action in defense of water in history.
