The increase in the global population and the **foods we will consume** depend on the [environmental challenges facing humanity](https://noticiasambientales.com/medio-ambiente/dia-internacional-contra-el-cambio-climatico-que-ocurre-con-el-planeta/) that test the survival of people. According to the organization, they ensure that insects will be the basis of our **diet**.

As the years go by, there is concern about what people’s diet will consist of, as the population continues to grow, and **natural resources** are [depleting faster and faster](https://www.canal26.com/planeta/el-planeta-en-numeros-rojos-la-humanidad-ya-consumio-todos-los-recursos-naturales-de-2024–385386).

The report from the World Health Organization (WHO) revealed what **foods we will consume** by the year 2050.

Due to the increasing population on Earth, there is a greater demand for food in the face of **environmental challenges** such as **climate change**, which are becoming more frequent and intense, leading to an expected increase in the [**consumption** of fruits, vegetables, and legumes](https://noticiasambientales.com/compromiso-ambiental/dieta-vegetariana-los-efectos-en-la-salud-de-la-alimentacion-basada-en-plantas/). Furthermore, meat could disappear from our plates.

Global meat production would need to increase by 70% to meet international demand. Therefore, the **UN** estimates that in the future we will consume:

– Algae
– Tubers
– Legumes
– Nopales
– Millet fonio
– Parsley roots
– Insects

To replace meat protein, **alternative sources** will be explored and promoted, such as those from insects, more precisely from crickets. Additionally, efforts will be made to reduce the **consumption of** ultra-processed foods high in saturated fats, sugars, and salt, and promote a healthier and more **natural** diet.

**Benefits of Consuming Crickets**

The consumption of insects is gaining ground in the global **diet** due to its multiple positive, nutritional, and environmental qualities. Among them are:

– **High protein content:** Crickets are an excellent source of protein, comparable to meat but with less saturated fat. This makes them an ideal option for those looking to increase their protein intake in a healthy way.
– **Rich in minerals:** They are a source of essential minerals such as iron, calcium, zinc, and magnesium, which are crucial for the body’s proper functioning.
– **Vitamins:** They contain B vitamins, vitamin E, and other important micronutrients for health.
– **Low in fats:** Unlike many meats, crickets are low in saturated fats, making them a healthier option for the heart.
– **Sustainability:** Insect production, such as crickets, requires fewer resources (water, land, food) and generates fewer greenhouse gas emissions compared to conventional meat production. This makes them a more sustainable option for the environment.
– **Culinary versatility:** Crickets can be consumed in various forms, whether as flour, in energy bars, as an ingredient in pasta, or even as snacks.

However, it is important to note that the regulation of **insect consumption** varies by country, and it is always advisable to consult a healthcare professional before incorporating new foods into the **diet**.
