The town of San Carlos Sud in Santa Fe became the first place in the country to adhere to the Law of Housing Labeling. This is an environmental initiative in which the Las Colonias department stands out for having the first solar neighborhood in the province of Santa Fe, as well as for having the country’s first garden to feed energy into the grid.
The communal president Florencia Primo, in an interview with a local media outlet, stated that this measure is part of the new policy being promoted in Santa Fe. Additionally, it is part of the community awareness work on the importance of environmental care.
This measure is part of the Provincial Climate Action Framework Law, which aims to promote actions that help reduce the effects of climate change while promoting energy efficiency and the use of renewable energies.
Furthermore, efforts will also focus on reducing associated emissions: the creation of green jobs, as well as adding value to properties labeled with higher energy efficiency. “The law establishes an Energy Efficiency Labeling procedure for residential buildings, in order to classify them according to their energy consumption efficiency,” explained the communal chief.

## Pioneers in Housing Labeling Law
The town of San Carlos Sud was chosen as the venue for the launch of a training proposal for the entire province, which was attended by the Secretary of Energy, Verónica Geese. “It is an honor that the town has been chosen to carry out this training where the benefits of the law were presented,” Florencia Primo began.
Housing labeling allows for rating a house, condominium, or apartment building depending on the characteristics of kilowatt-hour consumption per square meter (KWh/m2) per year. Its objective is to implement an energy efficiency labeling system in relation to the overall requirement of primary energy, according to Resolutions 5/2023 and 418/2023.
This Label will be determined by various aspects related to the architectural design of the home, orientation, solar protections, construction systems used, quality and condition of openings. It will also consider air infiltrations, heating, cooling, water heating, and lighting systems installed, as well as potential installations of renewable energies.
