The story of Paris, the newest canine member of the Big Brother house

On Tuesday night, a new and special member entered the Gran Hermano house: **Paris**. She is a **[greyhound breed dog](https://noticiasambientales.com/animales/piden-que-se-termine-con-las-carreras-de-galgos-en-escocia/)** that the participants will have to take care of.

The story of this animal, like that of most specimens in the country, is linked to **pain and harshness** that, fortunately, ended with the **[banning of races](https://noticiasambientales.com/animales/desbarataron-una-carrera-de-galgos-en-san-juan-20-detenidos/)** in 2016.

Paris was rescued in 2022 and is between 6 and 7 years old. After the reality show ends, any of the participants will be able to adopt her.

## Paris’s Story
According to reports, Paris was abandoned on the streets in the area of **General Villegas**, Buenos Aires province, when she was about to give birth. Days later, she gave birth, and all her puppies were adopted, except for her.

Additionally, due to the mistreatment she endured for a long time, she **lost vision in her left eye**.

**”Today she is a healthy, calm, and affectionate dog, and despite being an adult, she maintains her desire to play and enjoy human company intact,”** said the voice of Gran Hermano when introducing the dog.

“Without a doubt, all the participants will be delighted to take care of her as she deserves,” they added.

Thus, Paris entered the country’s most famous house on the catwalk and then gradually approached the participants, who approached her carefully so as not to scare her.

Although she seemed fearful and shy, both the viewers and the participants hope that, as the hours pass, she will get used to it and start receiving care and lots of love.

## The Importance of Adopting Greyhounds
Behind practically every greyhound, there is likely a moving story with scars. Most of them were rescued from **galgueros**, people who used them for illegal races (banned by law since 2016).

**The dog racing industry is plagued with animal welfare problems, such as deaths, injuries, and doping**.

Therefore, after the ban, most adult animals were left unprotected and with sequels.

In that sense, it is still essential to insist on raising awareness and spreading the message of responsible adoption.

**Greyhounds, on the other hand, are a breed of dogs that are usually calm, affectionate, sensitive, intelligent, and very sociable**. They get along well with other dog breeds, cats, and children.
