The rescued dogs of various breeds were suffering from overcrowding and had serious injuries. The owner of the place already had previous reports of abuse.
More than 80 dogs were rescued from a clandestine breeding facility in Córdoba capital, following a judicial intervention in the Guiñazú neighborhood. The operation began after an anonymous report alerted authorities to the deplorable conditions in which the animals were found, victims of overcrowding and abuse.
The authorities involved in the raid described an alarming scenario. The animals, of various breeds such as Pomeranian, Shar Pei, French and English Bulldog, and Dogue de Bordeaux, were living in a state of “total overcrowding,” according to veterinarian Diego Ibars (MP 3244), who provided the first medical assistance.
The professional detailed that many of the dogs had a body condition ranging from medium to thin and suffered various injuries due to confinement, including lacerations on their backs and ocular wounds. The cages in which they were transported were the same ones they permanently inhabited.
After the rescue, all 85 animals were placed under the custody of the “Hocicos Felices” association. Sofía Bersano, a representative of the organization, explained that they will act as a judicial deposit. This means that while the dogs receive veterinary care and temporary homes are sought, they cannot be permanently adopted until the judicial case against the owner, who already had previous reports, is resolved.
The association has started a collection to cover the veterinary and maintenance expenses of the rescued dogs. They are requesting donations of balanced food, dog houses, leashes, and other essential supplies, which can be coordinated through their social media (@hocicosfelicescba).
