In the municipality of Juscimeira, state of Mato Grosso (Brazil), an adult jaguar (Panthera onca) was rescued after falling into the canal of a small hydroelectric plant. The procedure was carried out by Firefighters, the Environmental Police, and specialists from the SEMA-MT.
The veterinary team detected that the animal was suffering from hypothermia, which prevented sedation due to the risk of serious complications. Faced with this situation, the rescuers resorted to a technical maneuver: they used a mechanical platform —normally used to clean the canal gates— to safely lift the feline.
The jaguar was removed without additional injuries and, after a veterinary check-up, managed to leave on its own and reintegrate into its natural habitat. The rescue was filmed and shared on social media, generating great attention for the precision and care in handling the animal.
