This is good news in this context, as it reflects the positive results of constant awareness campaigns. However, cases of serious harm and even the death of a rescued greyhound have still been reported.
That’s why it’s essential for information and awareness actions to continue, as well as promoting the use of non-harmful alternatives.
The increase in the sale of pet-friendly fireworks: what it means
“From all over the country, we are hearing that we are experiencing a very good season and that the public is massively turning to celebrating with pet-friendly fireworks,” said Mario Ruschin, President of the Argentine Chamber of Fireworks Companies (CAEFA).
“We believe that this resurgence of activity, which has been deepening since 2020, has to do with the transformation we have carried out in this industry, which provides jobs for 60,000 Argentine families,” he explained.
But, how do they differ from traditional fireworks? These products are characterized by being low in sound and light impact.
During the campaign, manufacturers, importers, merchants, union representatives, associations of people with autism, and public agencies explained how to use them correctly.
The CAEFA represents all companies in a sector made up of national family SMEs, many with a 100-year history.

Although some Argentine localities have implemented restrictions, there is still no national law that comprehensively regulates their use. That’s why, in addition to campaigns, it is crucial to take preventive measures to prevent stress in both animals and their families.
Dogs and cats have much more developed hearing than humans, making them extremely sensitive to loud noises such as fireworks.
These noises can trigger a response of fear and anxiety, releasing adrenaline and cortisol, stress hormones, which can lead to tachycardia, rapid breathing, tremors, and destructive behaviors.
In severe cases, they can lead to panic attacks and heart problems.
A recent and sad example of this extreme situation is “Vento,” a greyhound that, according to reports from the Sentido Galgo organization, allegedly died from cardiac arrest caused by the high stress level.
