The House of Tierra del Fuego: a new gateway to Antarctica

On Thursday, December 5, a new edition of the Night of the Provincial Houses was celebrated. In this edition, the House of the province of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica, and South Atlantic Islands presents the thematic axis “Tierra del Fuego House as a Gateway to Antarctica“.

This proposal highlights the strategic connection of the country with the White Continent, emphasizing the geostrategic role of the southernmost, insular, and bicontinental province, and its historical, scientific, operational, logistical, geopolitical, and educational ties as a gateway to this unique region in the world.

The event featured the participation of prominent national and provincial figures, such as representatives from the Argentine Antarctic Institute, who provided lectures on the scientific and logistical challenges in Antarctica.

Activities and Celebrations

In addition to interactive activities and thematic exhibitions, the Torres Barthe Gallery, the Argentine Air Force Chamber Ensemble, and the Antarctic Joint Command joined the celebration. This effort has positioned Argentina as a reference within the Antarctic Treaty System since 1904.

Tierra del Fuego House is located at Sarmiento 731 (CABA)

The Night of the Provincial Houses has become an annual tradition, bringing the entire community closer to the work and cultural proposals offered by the provincial representations in the City of Buenos Aires. Each delegation opens its doors to share traditions, culture, and flavors of each region.

This year, the event aims to be a meeting space to reflect on the importance of Antarctica as the last unexplored frontier in the global context.
