Extreme temperatures have been recorded in recent decades worldwide. However, there are territories where the heat is persistently and extremely high.

When we think of the hottest countries in the world, we usually imagine places in the Middle East or near the Sahara Desert.

While it is true that some nations in these areas are on the list, there are also others that, surprisingly, entered the ranking. This happens regardless of the time of year.

Global warming has caused real havoc in recent decades. The earliest heatwave on record for this season occurred in Greece. It led to the closure of the famous Acropolis of Athens and the collapse, and in some cases, the death of several hikers in areas of the Mediterranean country.

There, the average annual temperature is 26.7 °C. And the highest recorded usually hovers around 35.3 °C.

Guinea-Bissau

The average annual temperature is 26.75 °C, and the highest recorded was 45.0 °C.

Cambodia

The average annual temperature is 26.80 °C, while the highest recorded reached 48.7 °C.

Sudan is one of the countries with the highest temperatures.

The average annual temperature is 26.9 °C, and the highest recorded is 49.7 °C.

Nigeria

It appears with an average annual temperature of 27 °C, and its highest reached 46.4 °C.

Somalia

The average annual temperature is around 27.05 °C, and the highest recorded is 47.8 °C.

Togo

It registers an average annual temperature of 27.15 °C, and the highest recorded was 47.5 °C.
