This Saturday, July 18, the City of Buenos Aires and the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA) will experience a notable change in the weather. The arrival of a cold front from the south will bring instability and persistent rain.
Rain forecast and temperature drop in Buenos Aires
The rains will develop throughout the day, placing the region under winter weather. The frontal system will cause a clear drop in temperatures, removing the warm air mass.
El Niño is already present, influencing the weather in provinces such as Corrientes and Chaco. Specialists are attentive to its effects.
As for temperatures, the maximum is expected to barely reach 15°C, while the minimum will drop to 11°C by the end of the day. The probability of precipitation will remain high: 70% in the morning and 65% in the afternoon-evening.
The southeast winds, at 13 mph, will intensify the humidity, reaching 94%. This will cause completely cloudy skies and a UV index of 0, with no significant solar radiation.
The Early Warning System (SAT) maintains a yellow alert in the Mendoza mountain range due to snowfall. Caution is advised when traveling through the affected areas.
Additionally, the provinces of Neuquén and San Juan face an orange alert due to snow accumulation and strong Zonda winds.
In the north, Catamarca, Jujuy, Salta, and Tucumán are under alert for intense winds. Corrientes is also under a yellow alert for gusts.
Looking ahead to Sunday, July 19, a decrease in rain is anticipated in the AMBA. Mostly cloudy skies are expected with temperatures between 10°C and 12°C, under southeast winds of 17 mph.
On Monday, July 20, instability will continue, with a 60% chance of rain. Temperatures will range between 9°C and 12°C.
On Tuesday, July 21, the cold air will settle in the region, recording a minimum of 8°C and cloudy skies, consolidating the winter characteristics.
