Argentina inaugurates new wind and solar parks

In the third quarter of 2024, Argentina added 216.5 MW to its energy matrix thanks to the inauguration of new wind and solar parks.

This growth reaffirms the country’s commitment to the diversification of sustainable energy sources.

### Inauguration of New Wind and Solar Parks
Between July and September 2024, Argentina took a step forward in its energy transition by incorporating 216.5 MW into its Argentine Interconnection System (SADI). This increase was achieved through the commissioning of two wind parks and a solar park in the provinces of Córdoba, Buenos Aires, and La Rioja.

The projects that contributed to this progress are the General Levalle I Wind Park (Córdoba), with 62 MW, the Pampa Energía VI Wind Park (Buenos Aires), with 94.5 MW, and the 360 Energy Solar Park (La Rioja), with 60 MW. These developments increase the installed capacity and improve the electricity supply for more than 6 million households in the country.

### Impact on the Energy Matrix
To date, Argentina has 225 operational projects totaling 6,206 MW of renewable energy. This growth is part of the Renewable Energy Market at Term (MATER) program, driven by Law No. 26,190, which promotes investment in clean energies.

On September 15, 2024, a new record of renewable energy supply was registered, reaching 36.61% of the country’s electricity demand, surpassing the previous mark of 32.2% achieved in February 2023. This achievement highlights the growing participation of technologies such as wind, solar, and bioenergy in the national energy mix.
