Innovation over the sea: China tests the first quantum technology vehicle capable of flying 6 meters above the sea

How does ground effect technology work?

The vehicle travels at speeds close to 200 km/h, flying between 0.5 and 6 meters above the water. This behavior is possible thanks to the so-called ground effect, an aerodynamic principle that generates an air cushion between the wings and the marine surface.

Consequently, it reduces drag and optimizes energy consumption. This allows covering long distances with greater efficiency than a helicopter.

Additionally, it combines the stability of a boat with the speed of an aircraft. Thus, it positions itself as a highly adaptable intermediate solution.

Healthcare application in open sea

Unlike other technological developments, this vehicle does not have an initial military or commercial focus. On the contrary, it was designed as a medical rescue unit to operate in open sea.

In this regard, it can transport up to five seated patients or three on stretchers. It also has complete medical equipment for care during transport.

Moreover, the system integrates with digital platforms that allow for remote diagnostics. This ensures continuity of care from rescue to arrival at a health center.

Technical capabilities and advanced connectivity

The structure of the vehicle is built with carbon fiber, which reduces its weight and improves its performance. When empty, it reaches about 2.5 tons, with a maximum close to 5 tons.

Additionally, it has a range of up to 1,000 kilometers. This extends its reach beyond coastal routes, allowing it to operate in open sea for long periods.

At the same time, it incorporates 6G connectivity to transmit medical data in real-time. This capability is complemented by quantum encryption systems, which ensure information security.
