The Casa G is a non-profit private initiative, inaugurated in 2013 at the Las Cañuelas Country Club. Its objective is to promote the rational use of materials, good environmental practices, energy saving, and the promotion of sustainable construction.

This project was the first Argentine winner of the Green Awards, the Oscar for sustainability in the region.

Environmental Impact and Sustainability of Casa G

The construction and operation of homes are responsible for approximately 40% of CO2 emissions and primary energy consumption.

A construction is sustainable when criteria are considered that significantly reduce the negative consequences on the environment and its inhabitants throughout all stages. This is exactly what is achieved in Casa G.

The owner, Charly Karamanian, named the house with the letter G for the initials of Green, Gaia, and Galileo. Gaia is the name the ancient Greeks gave to the goddess of Earth and, more recently, the scientist James Lovelock used it for his hypothesis of considering the planet as an interconnected living being.

Inspiration and Great Ideas for Sustainable Construction

Living in Casa G helped Karamanian to connect with nature in a different way and inspired many of his innovations.

From designing an augmented reality helmet for NASA to developing the most sustainable coastal walk in the world on Bali, the ideas that emerged in Casa G have had a significant impact.

Characteristics of a Sustainable House

Casa G stands out for its bioclimatic design, taking advantage of sunlight and cross ventilation for passive climate control. The pool, windows of varying sizes, and a central double-height section in the living room contribute to a cool environment in summer and naturally well-lit.

It uses clean and renewable energies, with an aerothermal air conditioning system that quadruples the efficiency of a gas system and solar collectors that allow an annual savings of over 85%. Additionally, it has potable water filtration through a reverse osmosis system, and rainwater collection for various uses.
