With a proposal focused on debating the uses and productive potential of the plant, Junio Cañamero returns. Throughout this month, meetings will be held and content will be disseminated alongside the main representatives of the industrial hemp in Latin America.
The campaign is inspired by the figure of Manuel Belgrano —lawyer, economist, and politician— who historically promoted hemp as a strategic crop. This connection serves as the symbolic framework of the initiative, reviving an economic discussion that existed long before the rise of the modern cannabis industry.
At the end of the 18th century, Belgrano was already advocating the properties of hemp for its use in the textile, naval, and agricultural industries, envisioning it as a key tool for economic development. More than two centuries later, the plant returns to the center of the debate on sustainability, production, innovation, and work.
Innovation, training, and productive articulation
The edition of Junio Cañamero 2026 goes beyond simple historical commemoration; it seeks to build bridges to transform that potential into a concrete reality through technical training, productive articulation, and the exchange of knowledge.
This year, the campaign closely dialogues with the Diploma in Industry and Cultivation of Cannabis Sativa L., an academic space jointly promoted by:
-
The UTN Avellaneda
-
The Southern Cannabis Growers Association
-
The Human Rights Secretariat of the Municipality of Avellaneda
Additionally, the digital communication project Datita will add its content proposal related to the cannabis culture through weekly streaming broadcasts every Wednesday, featuring various specialists from the sector.
Junio Cañamero invites us to analyze the plant from a historical and productive continuity. The goal of this month is to demonstrate that, beyond historical prejudices, hemp represents a real opportunity to boost the industry, employment, and sustainability from a perspective removed from prohibitionism.
