Sustainability and Connectivity in Formosa: 2,000 Families Benefited by Renewable Energies

Most read

The Digital Inclusion Center (CID) of Lot 111 in Formosa is the first public building in the province to use renewable energies, providing more than 2,000 families with high-quality Internet access.

This project aims to reduce the digital divide in underserved neighborhoods by private companies and promote digital training to drive community development.

CID Features

Located in Lot 111, the CID already connects 2,000 users with quality and high-speed Internet service. This center not only reduces the digital divide but also promotes the community’s right to a healthy and balanced environment, using renewable energy.

Goals and Activities

Just over a year after its inauguration, the CID plans to double the number of connected families by March 2025 and continue developing digital literacy activities in nearby neighborhoods.

Activities include training in robotics, Gamer and E-Sport courses, and recreational events like the Conquest Festival.

Impact on Connectivity and Sustainability

In the second quarter of 2024, Formosa recorded an increase of 58,920 new Internet users, demonstrating the development of public policies to expand connectivity.

The CID operates as a retail provider, connecting the fiber optic network directly to homes in areas where private companies do not invest.

The CID will be able to bring Internet to neighborhoods

Innovation and Environmental Commitment

The CID is moving towards a Green Internet model, being the first retail provider in the province to implement an ecological approach. It generates and harnesses sustainable energy through 130 solar panels, offering an environmentally friendly service.

Future Vision: Smart Cities

The CID is seen as a step towards the creation of Smart Cities, using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to improve quality of life and promote sustainable development.

The solar energy generated is used in events inside the CID, demonstrating that the environment and access to technology can and should complement each other for the community’s benefit.
